Interstellar: An Out Of This World Movie

Victoria Lynn, Reporter

If intergalactic space travel is your muse and fascination, Interstellar is the perfect movie. While Earth is in it’s dying stages, with shortage of food and oxygen, award-winning Matthew McConaughey plays a widowed father named Cooper who is chosen with a team of other astronauts to search the endless abyss of space in search of a new home for the human race. Joining McConaughey is Anne Hathaway, playing the NASA scientist Brand, and Wes Bentley, most known for his performance in The Hunger Games series as Seneca Crane, playing NASA scientist Boyle. Interstellar is truly a captivating movie, keeping you on the edge of your seat as you watch the team of astronauts explore numerous planets and galaxies in search of a new home, and travel both space and time. Though the beginning is slow, and some questions are still left either unanswered or vaguely answered, the movie does a great job of drawing out suspense in a way that still keeps the viewer interested, rather than wanting to leave the theater. Visually and audibly, Interstellar is aesthetically very beautiful, portraying space, as terrifying as it can be, as a beautiful landscape filled with endless wonder, though much of the spoken script is covered by special effect noise and music. Overall, Interstellar is easily four out of five stars, despite its minor audio and plot flaws. It’s the perfect movie or nearly every age, definitely a movie to see with family and friends.
