Little Fish, Big Sea

With a new school year comes a new freshman class. Freshman year is usually the hardest in high school, with new beginnings and tons of new people. Freshmen Kelsey Cook (KC), Austin Smith (AS) and Kayla Dyba (KD) shared their thoughts about the first day.

Q: How are you liking high school so far?

KC: It’s been going pretty good, but it’s different.

KD: It was confusing at first, but it’s getting better.

AS: It’s a lot different than middle school.

Q: Any classes you’re really enjoying?

KC: I like theater so far.

KD: Spanish and World Geography.

AS: No, if lunch doesn’t count.

Q: What classes are you planning on taking?

KD: Ready Set Teach.

KD: I don’t know yet.

AS: Drawing and other art classes.

Q: Is high school anything like you expected?

KC: Yes, I expected a lot of walking.

AS: Not really.

KD: No, not at all, you actually have to study.

Q: Briefly describe the feelings you felt before, during and after school.

KC: Before I was nervous, and kind of scared. After, I was tired and knew where to go.

AS: A little nervous, but excited to be out of middle school.

KD: Completely terrified, then lost, and then super exhausted. I’ve been sleeping every day after school.

Q: What’s something that stands out to you?

KD: You get a more freedom.

AS: Uhm, (laughs) the girls.

KD: Sports. In soccer, I never realized how much they worked out.

Q: What do you plan on accomplishing all four years?

KD: Meet new people.

AS: I don’t know yet.

KD: A high GPA.

Q: Any scary first day stories?

KS: I got lost.

AS: I got lost in the A building.

KD: I had to ask random upperclassmen where my classes were and some girl on my bus had to show me where my first period class was like every day.
