Bandcoming for the school band was held in the cafeteria last Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. because they were supposed to miss Homecoming due to a marching band competition.

“I really enjoyed Bandcoming because it was super relaxed,” sophomore Joe Guerra said. “I had plenty of time to hang out with my friends so it was enjoyable. I think Bandcoming was pretty well done, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

Bandcoming was a way of rewarding band for working hard during marching season when they received fourth at the UIL State Band Competition.

“Bandcoming was worth it because it was a thing just for us but not totally exclusive,” Guerra said. “The fact that you could bring non-band members

made it really fun. It was a good reward for how hard we worked throughout the band season.”

Tickets were sold $5 ahead of time and $7 at the door to raise the money to cover the costs of Bandcoming.

“I think Bandcoming was definitely worth it,” sophomore Hayden Baxter said. “I had a great time with my group of friends. Plus band gained profit from the ticket sales.”

The band directors and volunteers donated food for the band to enjoy along with costumes to take pictures in.

“It was very fun when the we tried on the costumes,” Baxter said. “I enjoyed it a lot because it was a great way to spend time with friends. The food provided was also very great because there were really good cookies and soda.”

Band directors are considering making Bandcoming a tradition just like Homecoming, since band misses homecoming almost every year.

“It is a bummer to miss Homecoming every year,” Guerra said. “I would love to have Bandcoming become a tradition. I love spending time with band in general, and Bandcoming is a perfect way to do just that.”
