Review: Rise of the Guardians

The Rise of the Guardians is the latest holiday movie from Dreamworks Studios. In the movie, the Sandman, Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy and The Easter Bunny are guardians of the children of the world. Their job is to protect the children from danger and keep magic and hope alive. As evil from the villain, Pitch starts to scare the children of the world they are joined by Jack Frost. Jack Frost is struggling to remember his past, finds himself discovering more as he and the other guardians try to thwart Pitch before the children stop believing and lose all hope.

I really liked The Rise of the Guardians because it emphasized the power of children’s dreams and thoughts.  It was really cute, but also had a lot of action in it to keep it from being boring. It was a really good Christmas movie for families. Personally I liked it so much that I went to see it twice, and was just as impressed after the second time.

I would warn that there were a large number of children at each showing since we went to a matinee so if you’re going with an older group, you could go later to avoid all the children. Also it’s not as intense as other movies, so if you want something really dramatic this may not be for you. The movie is a great way to get in the holiday spirit, and I would definitely recommend it to all ages.
