Valve Finally Counts to Three

HL3_web1Recently, news has been released about a third Half-Life game by Valve. They have trademarked it and officially announced its release sometime in the next one to two years. This will be my second review of a Valve game although this isn’t very much of a review, as it is an announcement. After hearing this news from IGN, The International Gaming Network, they also predicted Valve making a Portal 3 and a Team Fortress 3 as sort of a Orange Box successor but it is very unlikely they will make a Portal 3 being as Portal 2’s ending left little room for a third installment.

Another prediction they made, which seemed more viable, was that Half-Life 3 could be the first Steam Machine, or Steam Box, exclusive game which would cause for more buyers of the new console. Being that I played the first and second installment of Half-Life, I am very much excited for the third one and also very curious for how they will write it.

The basis of the first and second games are that Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist, has to fight his way through an underground laboratory, Black Mesa, when a series of teleportation experiments have gone wrong. One of the most famous enemies in these games are Headcrab Zombies. These are aliens that found their way into Black Mesa and can attach themselves to human heads and turn them into zombies. Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are your average sci-fi shooters but started the foundation for FPSs that we know today, as Half-Life was made in 1998 and Half-Life 2 was made in 2004.
