Club Spotlight: Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is a club where students apply themselves to a problem, or challenge and come up with a suitable solution.

“It’s really fun to expand your imagination and to come up with possible solutions for your challenge,” sophomore Ashlyn Porter said. “It’s very challenging because you have to find any loopholes and make sure your solutions work.”

There are seven different types of challenges including: scientific, improvisation and technical. Students choose their challenge and begin thinking of solutions and developing possible ways to reach the solution.

The students in Destination Imagination also attend competitions from time to time. Students work in teams and strive to come up with the best solution to the challenge. Judges determine the winning team by who has the most creative, complex and thought out solution.

“It’s a lot of fun on competition day,” Porter said. “I enjoy watching the other teams perform and implement their creative solutions.”

Destination Imagination meets every Sunday outside of school.

“It can be stressful at times with meets every week and trying to balance time,” Porter said. “It requires a lot of time outside of school.”
