Club Spotlight: DECA Competition

Recently, there was an international DECA Competition that took place and VRHS was won of the best contesters. After speaking with some of the representers of our school, this is what they had to say.

What was your specific project at the DECA Competition?

“Well, the main assignment was to rebrand and recreate a business as your own,” said Jordan Pitt.

How do you feel about your performance at the competition?

“We made it to state but were aiming to get to International and could have done some things better,” said Victoria Lee.

What changes, if any, do you think should be made as you advance to state?

“Definitely improve presentation skills, simplify paper, and maybe clearer labels so they are more visible,” said Jordan Pitt.

Would you enter another DECA Competition given the opportunity? Why?

“Yeah, it requires a lot of work but most people chose difficult projects so they have less competitors. But you learn so much from it and it is one of the most rewarding things you can do,” said Saloni Gyani.

Do you plan to stay in DECA until you graduate?

“Yes, out of all the extracurricular activities out there, DECA is one of the most helpful for now and even later on in life,” said Victoria Lee.
