Spanish Creates Altar for Day of the Dead

Spanish club created an altar, for Day of the Dead, honoring the life of people who passed, for their meeting Nov. 7.

“We wanted to celebrate the Spanish holiday,” sophomore Rachel Doye said, “And create a way for people to find out about the club and join.”

The altar honors people who have passed, the Spanish club used Selena, a famous Spanish singer who was shot in 1995 , as their main focus. The altar is displayed out of Angela Wells’ room, 2516.

“I love the picture collages of Selena because she really embodies the Spanish culture,” Doye said. “And what we wanted to portray by celebrating Day of the Dead.”

The Spanish club has a lot of future plans for the club in hopes to get more student members.

“I plan to expand our involvement in the school,” Doye said. “as well as have super fun meetings.”

The altar has generated student interest and future involvement for the Spanish club.

“I have been asked by many students about the altar,” Wells said. “I am very happy about that because hopefully we will get more students to join the Spanish club.”

The Spanish club holds meeting the first Thursday of every month. Doye said that the next meeting they plan on playing Spanish board games.
