For the whole school year, DECA students practice and get ready for their numerous competitions. The first competition is Jan. 20.

There are around 100 members in DECA, but not every single member competes.

With 18 four-member teams, students present for 12 minutes on a topic related to a local business.

“Our DECA team is exceptionally good. We always go far in the competition every year,” junior Meghana Karimsetty said. “DECA has helped me improve my presentation skills, helped me write professionally and helped me communicate better with professionals.”

Sponsor Dana Jones will take approximately 57 students to compete in district.

“I think many kids join DECA every year because they know that it will tremendously help them in future,” Jones said. “They know it and join every year.”
