The NJROTC Lone Star Company is hosting a dress exchange for prom. It will be tomorrow, March 6 and on Saturday March 7 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. located in the NJROTC classroom.

What is a dress exchange?

It will be a dress exchange where you bring in a dress and get to trade it for a dress you like. People can come in with a dress or without a dress. They can look at the dresses we have available, and if they bring a dress that they are willing to donate they can trade that dress for one of the dresses that is on the rack. Although it’s not guaranteed you will find a dress that fits you or you want, you can still donate and get a free ticket to get a dress. But if you don’t donate a dress and you still want one, then you can buy one for $10.

Why is NJROTC sponsoring this event?

It had to do with our new female cadets who didn’t know how to dress at military ball so that was the first thing we thought of. A lot of girls didn’t know what kind of dress they were supposed to wear and didn’t know where they could get one that they could afford for that one night.

Then we thought about extending it to prom because we know that a lot of other girls in school would be interested participating in the dress exchange to get a good deal on a dress and get rid of some of the dresses that they no longer wear. Most girls only wear that dress one night, and most don’t want to wear the same dress.

How will this fundraiser support The Lone Star Company?

It’s going to be held by our booster club, and all of the funds that we take for the $10 dresses are going toward our booster club to help out any event we have in ROTC like the overnight trip.
