The freshman basketball team is undefeated after a win over Cedar Park last Friday. Tonight the team plays at Vandegrift at 5:15 p.m.
“Practice makes perfect,” freshman Nashua Brooks said. “We, as a team are developing better communication skills through basketball, which I think will take us very far.”
To prep before any game, the fellow teammates do several basketball drills.
“We run a lot, like a lot. It gets exhausting at times, but I know it will only make us a better team,” Brooks said.
Although the freshman team is still undefeated, the players show good sportsmanship and try to stay humble at all times during any game.
“I like that we’re an undefeated team because people are scared to play our team, and when people get scared to play, it throws their whole game off,” freshman Marquan Hampston said.
The players have formed a close friendships with each other, and each teammate learns a new skill from each other each day.
“I’ve learned that being close with your team mate actually helps win our games,” Hampston said.
