Students from the 2012-2013 Ranger Band were recognized for their outstanding solo performances in the spring show. These students prepared the following three pieces for months. Junior Connor Fryar was featured in Movement II of “Trittico” on Tenor Saxophone.
“I liked ‘Trittico’ the best because of selfish reasons,” Fryar said. “It was fun to play.”
Senior woodwind captain Kaysie Tam was featured in Both “Molly on the Shore” by Percy Grainger, and “Trittico” by Vaclav Nelhybel on flute and piccolo.
Junior Jonathan Charpentier played his solo on bari saxophone in the second movement of “Trittico” by Vaclav Nelhybel.
“‘Molly on the Shore’ was definitely my favorite to play,” Charpentier said. “It came naturally to me”.
All of these pieces were conducted by the Wind Ensemble Director for the band, Bryan Christian. The students spent time before and after school making recordings of their music to submit to both TMEA and the Midwest Clinic.
