Lady Ranger basketball beat Austin High 65-44 on Nov. 5 to start the season. As well as Austin, they have beat Westwood, Bowie, Hendrickson, and Westlake making them 5-0.
“It felt really good,” junior shooting guard Katrina Pardee said. “It gave us a feel that all of our hard work in pre-season is starting to pay off even though it was just our first game of the year.”
The girls practice every day and, as all teams would, wish to go to state. Junior Japreece Dean said she knows they will make it as far as their work ethic and faith takes them.
The team has a tournament Nov. 21-Nov 23 at Marble Falls.
“There are some pretty good teams in this tournament, so it will be good for us to see where we stand as a 4-A team after this tournament.” Pardee said. “It’s a good first tournament to go to, to start off the season.”
The team asks the student body to attend the matchup against Stony Point Nov 26 at home. Student tickets are $2, and adult tickets are $3.
“It’s going to be our hardest game of the year.” Pardee said. “We will really have to lock up on defense and keep them out of the paint. They are a really good 5-A team.”
