Freshman Trey Shaffer won the Future Bobcat award from Texas State for his math project in Ms. Plummers Pre- AP Geometry class. What he submitted was an extra credit assignment for the class.
“She suggested that we all enter so I did,” Shaffer said.
The objective was to show math in real life situations. Shaffer found the surface area and volume of the roof area on a gazebo. He submitted a picture with all of his work shown to Texas State and won the Judges’ Choice Award for his project.
“It wasn’t as challenging as I thought it would be,” Shaffer said. “I had a lot of fun. I’d definitely do it again.”
