Approximately 60 students advanced to the Austin Regional Science Fair.
Scientific research and design students and pre-AP freshmen presented their science fair projects Jan. 16 and 17 to a series of volunteer judges. These students been working on their projects for the past five months.
“At the beginning of the year we were asked to think of a topic to do research on. Of that topic we had to research the basic components of our future projects,” senior Sierra Fredenrich said. “We are given a budget of about $50, and we can use it on anything to buy materials for our research. During our presentations we must present our research paper, our poster and a data journal in 10 minutes or less per judge in order to convince them why our projects should advance and why our research was valid.”
Science teachers Rhonda Christman, Michelle Deere and Valerie Gibson coordinated the event.
