House Of Torment

The House of Torment is probably the biggest and most famous haunted house in Austin and is definitely one of the most terrifying. The House of Torment is open every day in October from 7:30 -11 p.m. with extended hours on Friday and Saturday. The House of Torment is located in Highland Mall. Although it is open every day during October, the budget for House of Torment is obviously a lot higher and therefore gets a lot more attention from the community than the other houses/attractions.

Night Terrors

Night Terrors is arguably as good or better than House of Torment. Although it lacks the budget House of Torment boasts, many online reviews state that Night Terrors is very fun and have said that it is a very realistic and terrifying haunted house that will “scare you to your core.” The two creators of Night Terrors who dress as spooky clowns, Gzmo and Lunatik, even said in an interview, “Don’t confuse us with that Highland Mall Disney Show.” Night Terrors is located off of 183 just north of McNeil Drive. So if you’re interested in a surreal and realistic haunted house, come down to Night Terrors for a terrifying night.

Scare for a Cure

Scare for a Cure is a very scary and realistic event and haunted house that donates a lot of its profits to cancer research organizations and supports research for other diseases as well. The show includes events such as a Little Red Riding Hood-themed Fairy Tale Nightmare, the old west-themed Murder at Ghost Town and the cemetery-themed Boneyard. Although most of these get a lot of attention, the main attraction at Scare for a Cure is Quest Night, an interactive medieval adventure where participants get in a group and fight giant spiders and zombie warriors. It is located in Manor, Texas and is open every weekend in October so enjoy it while it lasts!

Doc Avery’s

Doc Avery’s is an independent haunted house organization that donates most of its profits to foundations to end hunger. The haunted house itself is a course where participant go through different scenes/situations that will scare everyone a different way. The location of the house is in Avery Ranch.
