Varsity boys soccer wins first district game

With their new season underway, the varsity boys soccer team won their first district game against Mcneil 3-1 on Tuesday.
“It was a complicated game, but we found our rhythm and found a way to score and beat the other team,” senior Armando Vidal said. “We did good playing as a team and keeping our shape defensively and that translated to a win away from home.”
Preparation was also a big factor in their big opening win.
“We practiced keeping our defensive shape and finishing, and one of our goals was exactly the same play we practiced,” Vidal said. “We are coming together pretty well and are forming a good relationship as a team.”
The team has spent several months preparing for the district season, and they know what they hope to achieve at the end of the season.
“The goal for this season is to win district and go far in playoffs,” senior Daniel Perry said. “That is the mentality I hold, and I think we can get it done.”
The varsity team plays their next game tonight against Westwood at home.
“We will prepare the same as for any other game, we will practice hard and keep working hard to be prepared,” Perry said.
