Probably the most challenging thing about color guard is learning new choreography in a short amount of time and then having to add them to the show. The most exciting thing about this year was performing our first performance was actually pretty cool and getting to perform with the band in front of an audience. My sister introduced me to joining guard and I thought it looked really cool. Color guard has made an impact in my life by knowing how to work with others and understanding other people because I was having a hard time my first year and now I can finally help others. What most people dont know about color guard is that it is a lot of hard work. Its really tiring but, It all pays off. At first, I thought color guard was going to be easy but now that I am in it it is actually harder than it looks. This program is a life changer because it teaches you how to work as a whole family.

Some challenges I’ve faced mainly is getting the choreography down. Getting all the steps right and consistently making sure everyone gets the routine right. The exciting thing about color guard, that I’ve experienced is, that everything progresses fast. I’ve been able to see improvements on how fast I learn the choreography. I never thought that I would be spinning a riffle. I decided to join color guard because I have been interested in it since freshman year. The riffle tossing is what really got my interest and spinning the flag. Color guard has taught me to be patient and positive. We work so hard and in the end, our main goal is to know that we are going to get there. At first, I expected color guard to be more similar to marching band but it is completely different. In color guard, we do our own thing and we warm up. What most people don’t know about color guard at first is that it is harder than it looks. There is so many things you have to focus on. It mentally and physically requires a lot. One thing I will never forget are the people I’ve met, all the shows that I have been in, all the choreography that I’ve learned. The leaders from color guard actually convinced me to join because they could tell that I had a passion for it. This program is a life changer because it teaches you so many things and what we do in color guard.
