The big Cross Country district meet

I felt very nervous when I was at the staring line but at the same time I felt like we trained for an appropriate amount of time for our results. To prepare myself for districts, I did double runs every night, I ate healthy during the season, and I stretched and rolled out to make sure I was in good shape for the district meet. My time was 17:58 and I think I did pretty well considering I PR’ed for my 5K time. This cross country season has taught me to manage my time better and balance out mental strengths and keep a positive mindset. One of my biggest challenge at districts was that my legs got sore during the race but I manged to push through it. One thing I wish people knew about cross country is that, it is rewarding and its fun when you meet new people. Something I didn’t expect was to PR at districts only because Ive had a few bad races during the season but I ended up surprising myself this season.

At first, I was pretty nervous before districts and focusing on my time and my place for the race. To prepare for districts, I made sure to stay on the timing charts and meet the times in order to do well at districts. I ran 23:00 minutes. It was definitely one of my best times and it shows that I improved during the season. This season has taught me that I need to know what my limit is and to keep pushing myself to meet the times that I met before. Usually people think that we always run but we actually have our days structured differently depending on the meet during that week and the training schedule and I wish people knew that we are a close family. Coming from being on Varsity last year continuing this year being on junior varsity, It was hard to motivate myself to be as trained and motivated as I was last year and that is something I didn’t expect from this years season.

At the starting line for districts, I was really nervous because we were really close to making it to regional’s and I just wanted to do my job and try hard for my team. To prepare for districts, I ran lots of miles, ate healthy, and made sure to be responsible for myself and my health. I ran a 19:52 which was 1 second off my time from last year. I think I did okay. This season was a lot more pressure and it was a lot less about wanting to make regional’s for myself. It was more about wanting to do it for the team. That was one of the biggest impacts of this years season. Our main goal was to beat cedar ridge and round rock. One of the biggest challenges during the race was to catch up to those girls since they were far ahead of us. I think everybody knows that cross country runs but It is so much more than just running fast. some people may think that we were born to run but its taken a lot of dedication and miles throughout the years to become a good runner.
