Senior Quarterback Leads Team, 4-1 in District
November 10, 2020
Starting quarterback of the varsity football team, senior Kyle Brown put on a stunning performance in week one of this football season. Brown also won “The Ford Built Tough Player of the Week for the state of Texas in Class 6A” for his seven touchdowns and winning performance against Hays.
Brown is currently playing at a very high level through the season, he has 26 touchdown passes with over 2,000 passing yards with 80% completion according to MaxPreps, and Kyle believes if he continues to make smart plays it will continue to show in his play.
“Football has always been something very important to me, and is something I take more seriously than I probably should,” Brown said. “And I think that’s part of the reasons my play affects that.”
Brown models his game off his parents, and football players such as super bowl winning quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson is definitely one of the NFL’s most elite quarterbacks, being number one in voting for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the NFL this year.
“I look up to lots of people anywhere from football players like Russell Wilson and even my parents,” Brown said. “They have both done things to make me a better player and person.”
Brown said even through this pandemic, the coaches have done what they can to improve his game on the field. He also said he could not have had the performance he did without his teammates. The team is currently 4-1 in district.
“It’s mainly the coaches who have helped me get a lot better over the offseason even with this pandemic,” Brows said. “And also my teammates for making some great plays.”
Brown said it felt really good to get a win early in the year as the team has its eye on a playoff run.
“It felt great to get an early win,” Brown said. “We don’t have many games so it’s always good to get wins early so it takes pressure off our team later in the year.”
The team will play Round Rock at Gupton this Thursday at 7 p.m.
