Last Friday night, the varsity football team pulled out an astonishing win against Vandegrift, extending undefeated status to 6-0.

The game was a struggle from the start as the teams fought to gain and maintain the lead. One minute Vandegrift was in the lead, the next minute the Rangers were on top. With 21 seconds left in the game, the score was tied up 49-49 after the Vandegrift drive was stopped by an interception by sophomore strong safety Caleb Welch.

After Vandegrift kicked a field goal in overtime, the Rangers came out victorious 56-52.

“It feels so nice, but we have to stay humble,” junior linebacker Zach Bryant said. “Because 6-0 are just numbers, we still have to work hard and worry about the next team.”

With the Homecoming game against Dripping Springs days away, the team is taking one day at a time.

“I feel like I shouldn’t speak on it because humbleness is what keeps us winning,” senior wide receiver Delonte Singleton said. “But after every win we get even hungrier.”
