For the girl’s volleyball team here at Vista Ridge HS, their minds are set on playoffs. These players are focused on preparing themselves and the team for the upcoming challenges that lie ahead. Their current record of 6-2 has these girls in second place so far in district, and with the second round of districts approaching, the athletes are laser-focused on maintaining their ranking.
“To prepare for playoffs we focus on our performance in district play,” senior Avery Place said. “It is important to win against the more competitive teams so we can have a higher ranking in post-season, which will help us play less competitive teams in the first round of playoffs.”
As they focus on their strategy throughout the season, the girls remain dedicated to one another in order to work together and reach their goals. Both inside and outside of practice, they work towards perfect unison and a solid team bond.
“I feel like the key to be successful in playoffs is playing as a team and in unity,” junior Ella Prewitt said. “Using what we have been working on during season and even off-season from the Spring.”
With playoffs being just around the corner, the team is met with realistic goals and expectations. The girls are excited for playoffs and hope to make it further this year than ever before. With the right mindset and teamwork, these athletes believe they have what it takes to go far this season.
“I believe that we will be a competitive team in the playoffs,” Place said. “Even though we may be perceived as underdogs.”
This is the mindset that will drive these girls to a long run in the playoffs. Their underdog mentality, mixed with their amazing team chemistry, has this team set up for greatness as they head into playoffs and sets them apart from other teams.
“Our motto this year is WE>ME,” senior Jasmin Dion said. “Just trusting that and knowing our teammates have each other’s back is the way we stay grounded when pressure increases.”
As playoffs approach, the volleyball team continues to be driven by hard work and determination. By embracing their motto, “WE>ME”, they are ready to face any challenges that lie ahead. With a strong trust and belief in one another, these girls strive to make their mark, leading them to remarkable achievements in playoffs. These girls have their sights set on victory, prepared to rise to the occasion and emerge victorious.
