On the campus of Vista Ridge High School, the class of 2024 seniors are able to paint a parking spot. Even though upperclassmen consist of juniors, only seniors are allowed to paint. Hopefully next year, juniors will be able to paint a parking spot.

This hasn’t been a problem before but now the class of 2025 is advocating for both juniors and seniors to be able to have more privilege in the parking lot. Even though juniors won’t be able to paint a parking spot this year, they are hoping for the future upperclassmen to be able to have that opportunity.

“I think juniors should be able to paint the parking spots because I don’t like parking in the very back of the school every day and having to find a new spot every day.” junior Trey Muinz said. “When baseball practice starts, parking in the a-lot would be better because the baseball fields are so far away from the b-lot where most of the juniors have to park.”

Every day juniors have to find a new spot to park, usually in the back of the school since most seniors park in the front lot. As a result, the juniors should be able to have their own parking spots to paint because then we can keep it over the summer and have the spot for two years instead of having to repaint it next year, and it’s a less waste of time.

“With juniors having to park in the back of the school, they have to walk around the building to the locker room and make us late to practice,” junior Caitlyn Zacharias said. “Which can cause future problems with the coach and team.”

From a senior perspective, since the parking spots are first come first serve. They have less chance of even getting to paint a spot since there are only limited spots to paint.

“As a senior, I think they shouldn’t because it a different as a senior, and you are celebrating the last 12 years of school,” senior Rivindu Narunnapalliyaguruge said. “Seniors should have celebrations and get to do fun stuff with the school that I don’t think juniors deserve.”
