Brown Santa

Brown Santa is a community service program of the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, and the many sponsors and volunteers who help make it happen each year. Brown Santa started in 1981 with a few deputies helping about 25 families in Travis County.

Since 1981, Travis County Brown Santa has helped thousands of people with more than half being children. Brown Santa helped 1,957 families in the 2011 season alone, with a total of 19,219 men, women and children helped that year. Travis County Brown Santa depends on the generosity of individuals, groups and businesses in the community, to provide items for people in need and those that are less fortunate than others.

The Travis County Constables helped out this year with Brown Santa and collected toys at a baseball tournament. Within two days, they collected more than 400 toys for Brown Santa.

There will also be Brown Santa collection barrels where unopened toys or non-perishable food items can be dropped off.
