Friday Oct. 15 the varsity football team went on the road and ruined Westwood’s homecoming with the best offensive and defensive performance all season. Standouts include senior quarterback Desmond Thomas who had a season-best 315 yards with an 81% completion percentage and five touchdowns. Four of his five touchdown passes went to senior receiver Wyatt Gates. Along with four touchdown receptions, Gates netted 154 yards and averaged 30 yards per reception.

Defensively, the Rangers held Westwood to 0 points. Westwood’s only points came off of special teams. The defensive effort was led by sophomore safety Tavon Mcadams who led the team with 10 tackles as well as a pick-six to end the third quarter. This Friday the team will host the Hutto Hippos. The Rangers will need to be sharp on defense to come out with a win as Hutto averages almost 30 points a game.
