Spring break is March 15-22, and many students enjoy this week-long break in the spring semester as a preview of the upcoming summer. Whether you’re attending SXSW, going to the beach, leaving the country, or staying in Austin, this spring break will be enjoyable for everyone

If you don’t know how to occupy your time over break, here are some suggestions.

  1. The beach is only a short three hour drive from here, and a great destination for spring break fun.
  2. SXSW is happening over spring break from March 11-17, giving you a few days to see performers from across the world.
  3. Downtown Austin has many attractions, like the farmers market, Zilker Park, Second Street shopping, 360 bridge, or Congress Avenue and is a short distance from home.
  4. Getting out of the house is easier than you think with state parks and outside attractions. You could hike Mount Bonnell, swim at Barton Creek or paddle board on Lake Travis.

Some people already have plans for their spring break with their family or friends.

  1. ‘My friend’s dad is very adventurous and wants to take us camping and fishing,’ said freshman Katie Naugle who is planning to go camping with her family and friends.
  2. ‘I enjoy spending time with my friends and getting out of Austin,’ said Junior Gabe Dichoso who is going to Schlitterbahn and Six Flags with his friends.
  3. ‘I am going to Honduras, Roatan and Cozumel with my best friends for an unforgettable experience over spring break,’ said Sophomore Annie Graham who is going on a cruise with her friends.
  4. ‘I’m gonna take it day by day and see what I can do around the area,’ said freshman Omar Yacoub who is planning to stay in Austin with his family.
